Sticky notes and planning sketches on a wall

After a Cohort Deep-Dive Engagement, teams sometimes stall between insight and backlog. The cure is a short experiment brief tied to a specific cohort moment.

Name the cohort cut (for example, organic Android users who completed signup in January). Name the moment on the curve (Day-2 return after first successful action). State the hypothesis in one sentence that mentions a user behaviour, not a vanity metric.

List the smallest product change that could test the hypothesis, the success signal you will check after two cohort weeks, and what you will stop doing if the signal is flat. Keep engineering scope honest—one change per brief.

Store briefs next to the cohort charts so future teammates see why a change was tried. Retention work compounds when history is visible.
